Bewitching the Waters Symposium

A unique online symposium focusing on witchcraft, spirit work, shapeshifting, sorcery, cunning ways, and enchantments from the aqueous realms.

“Magical Rivers of the Underworld” feature presentation by Jamie Waggoner: Styx, Akheron, Kokytos, Lethe, and Phlegethon: the five mighty rivers of the Greek Underworld. Their waters are brimming with magic, and often tended or inhabited by a guardian or tutelary spirit, as they flow through the Realm of the Dead. Each of these rivers has a distinct personality, serving a unique purpose in the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. In this workshop, we'll explore their mythology, discuss how they might be called upon in modern ritual and spellwork praxis, and begin cultivating a magical, reciprocal relationship with them. Our time together will culminate in a guided trance journey to the Underworld, wherein participants may meet and talk to one of the rivers and/or its guardian spirit.
