My name is Jamie Waggoner. I’m an author, witch, community leader and creative professional.

I believe in the power of magic.

Jamie: a smiling woman in her 40s with a short, pixie-style haircut and long gold fringe earrings. She is looking forward at the camera.

I’m a student of philosophy, spirituality, mysticism, and the occult. I’ve been a practicing witch for 25+ years. As a Pagan priestess and community leader, I create transformative workshops, rituals, sacred circles, and learning programs for people of many spiritual backgrounds (and skeptics, too).

Creativity, research, and artistry feed my soul. The focus of my current creative work is nonfiction writing, esoteric herbalism, and the occasional print project — I grew up in the 90s and I still love making zines.

I am also a certified Level I Trainer in Kingian Nonviolence Conflict Reconciliation. I endeavor to carry forward the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s leadership and nonviolent activism in my life, projects, and relationships.

My first full-length nonfiction book, Hades: Myth, Magic and Modern Devotion, is available now! (Llewellyn, Feb 2024)

I tell stories, create rituals, and teach about magic. My modern, feminist approach combines research, experimentation, and innovation to develop fresh takes on ancient myths and metaphysical practices.

Jamie explores the Antro della Sibilla (Cave of the Sibyl) in Cuma, Italy. This site is popularly known as the entrance to the Underworld in Virgil’s Aeneid.

My nonfiction often features folk traditions, lore, rituals, and mythology associated with death and dying. Far from a melancholy pursuit, I see knowledge and praxis gained in these areas as vital emotional and spiritual intelligence for our changing times.
